Maak je nu geen zorgen, je kunt je zorgen maken als het daadwerkelijk zover is dat je in de problemen zit. “Wie dan leeft, die dan zorgt” zeg je dan in het Nederlands. Hoe vertaal je dit spreekwoord naar het Engels?
Er is geen Engelse uitdrukking die precies overeenkomt, je zult per geval moeten kijken wat het beste past. Hier een aantal opties:
to take things as they come = je ziet wel wat er gebeurt
to have a carefree personality = een zorgeloos karakter hebben
to have a devil-may-care attitude = een onbezorgde, roekeloze houding hebben
we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it = we lossen dat probleem wel op als het zover is
we’ll worry about that when we get there = we gaan over dat probleem nadenken als het zover is
we’ll see what happens = we zien wel
to let the chips fall where they may = alles maar gewoon laten gebeuren, en dan zien wat het resultaat is
