Als je je ergens bij neerlegt, dan accepteer je de situatie zoals hij is, ookal is het niet fijn. In het Engels kun je dit op diverse manieren zeggen, gewoon droog “to accept something” werkt bijna altijd, maar er zijn ook leukere manieren om “zich erbij neerleggen” naar het Engels te vertalen. Die werken niet altijd in elke context. Zie de tabel hieronder.
