Als je mensen over één kam scheert dan behandel je ze allemaal hetzelfde, of je beoordeelt ze naar dezelfde norm, terwijl dat niet zou moeten. Er zijn een aantal vertalingen naar het Engels mogelijk.
Persoonlijk gebruik ik graag de Engelse uitdrukking “to lump things into the same category“. Ik dacht dat die misschien Brits was, maar ik heb even gekeken en Amerikanen gebruiken hem ook.

Deze vertalingen liever niet
Ik zag ergens “to put all eggs in the same basket” gebruikt als vertaling. Dit betekent iets als al je geld op één paard zetten en is dus heel iets anders.
“in the same boat” betekent in hetzelfde schuitje, en “on equal footing” betekent gelijkwaardig. Ook niet hetzelfde.
