“Genieten”, dat is toch gewoon “to enjoy”? Zeker, maar in sommige gevallen werkt die vertaling niet, omdat het Engelse werkwoord “to enjoy” niet zonder lijdend voorwerp kan. Je moet er altijd bij zeggen wáár je van geniet, en in het Nederlands hoeft dat niet.
Neem bijvoorbeeld “dat is genieten!”. Dat kun je niet vertalen met “*That is enjoy!*”. Maar hoe vertaal je het dan wel? Dat is bijzonder lastig. Ik geef hieronder een paar opties.
